A new, large, flexible and centrally located port is now being built on the southern tip of Norway.

The port can be adapted and tailored to suit the requirements of players within logistics, the oil industry and renewable energy.

Unique depth conditions in the seaward approach and at the quay.

Introduction

THE PORT OF THE FUTURE...

The PORT of AGDER is a regionally-based port project that is being developed in a key location on the southern tip of Norway.

The first construction stage is on a 200-acre site featuring a 800-metre quayside. The area zoning plan is considerably larger and has major potential.

In spring 2017, 2 x 11-metre quaysides were completed for the shipment and export of 4.5 million cubic metres of stone. This will facilitate the provision of ready-for-construction industrial plots with direct proximity to the port.

Geography

The PORT of AGDER is centrally located in Southern Norway between Stavanger and Kristiansand. There is a direct seaward approach from the Skagerrak Strait and the North Sea. A new highway (E39) is being planned and will provide an anticipated driving time of around 20 minutes from the port to Kristiansand. The closest train station is currently 20 minutes away. Kristiansand Airport (Kjevik) is 45 minutes away.

Infrastructure

Direct seaward approach from the Skagerrak Strait with generous width and depth. The port area is adapted to accommodate all types of industry and transport activities of a marine nature.

Construction

The quaysides are well protected from the elements. Well placed with regard to noise issues. The existing and future industrial plots are in the same area. The depth conditions are unique, both in the seaward approach and at the quay.

The port area is very well suited to production, shipments and service associated with renewable energy installations offshore or refurbishment of discarded oil sector equipment, with the Maren waste processing plant close by.

Measurements

The extension of Mandal Port is proceeding apace and the timber quay on the western side – with a length of 120 metres and depth at the quay of 12 metres – will be finished in November 2017. On the eastern side the planned depth at the quay is 15 metres.

The quay area has a width of 160 metres at its widest point. A quayside comprising a total of 800 metres with from 12 to 15 metre depth.

Applications

RENEWABLE ENERGY PRODUCTION OFFSHORE
The depth conditions at the PORT of AGDER are ideal for shipments and the service of components for offshore wind farms.

The PORT of AGDER has good access from land and is favourably located with regard to other infrastructure such as the road and rail network.

OIL-RELATED ACTIVITIES
The PORT of AGDER is very well suited to the shipment of new modules to the oil industry. The port also lends itself well to the repair of existing oil installations and breaking up of discarded material.

TRADITIONAL PORT
The PORT of AGDER has good access from land and is favourably located with regard to other infrastructure such as the road and rail network.
